Some high-level topics of discussion from our December 2023 Board Meeting:

Umpire Director Pay & Umpire Pay Structures

• Ensure our Umpire Director is being fairly compensated for the time & effort spent securing umpires for our league games.
• Ensure our Umpires are being fairly compensated per current market conditions in the area to secure the best & most reliable umpires possible.

Rules

• Establish a method to review new MLB rules introduced each year to ensure they make sense for our league.  If not, the league needs to incorporate any edits/omissions/inclusions in our local league rules each spring.
• Review the "Senior Hitter" rule to ensure it is being used & enforced so it allows maximum participation for our most senior players without becoming a mechanism for competitive advantage.

League Registration & Fees

• Checking to see if our league website host can provide a solution that would allow our registrations to be downloaded into a viewable format in real time.
• Registration structure to move to an Emergency Player to be defined as a "Single Date Player".  This will allow a manager to sign up a player at no charge to the player for a single date which could cover one single game or one doubleheader.  If a player decides to continue playing for a team, this player would then pay as a part-time or full-time player.
• After the mid-point of any team's season, a player that joins a team would be charged $20 per remaining game, up to the ceiling of the established part-time fee.
